The digital application needs a photo and a signature sample registered in MyPhoto, the Greek state service that stores them electronically. They are then used automatically when your licence is issued.

Who can apply
Requirements for a category B licence
The Greek procedure sets conditions on age and residence. If you are not sure whether you meet them, ask us before you start.
Age
You can start the process for category B from the age of 17. Until you turn 18 the accompanied-driving rules apply.
Normal residence
You must have your normal residence in Greece, or meet the conditions that apply to people studying in Greece.
Citizens of other countries
EU/EEA citizens and third-country nationals are subject to the corresponding legal-residence and normal-residence conditions.
Driving entitlement
What can I drive with a category B licence?
Category B covers everyday vehicles, within specific limits on seats, mass and towing.
Passenger car
Up to 9 seats in total, including the driver's seat.
Vehicles up to 3,500 kg
Vehicles with a maximum authorised mass of up to 3,500 kg.
Trailer up to 750 kg
You may tow a trailer of up to 750 kg, subject to the specific rules that apply to heavier trailers.
The process step by step
From your application to your driving licence
The Greek procedure is now largely digital. These are the stages for a first category B licence, and we can handle most of the paperwork for you.
MyPhoto gov.gr Digital driving licence services
You sign in to the Digital Services for Driving Licences and Vehicle Registrations on gov.gr (the Greek government's online services portal) and select the service that matches your case.
Application & authorisation Starting the application
The application is completed online with the required identification details. You can authorise Stavroulakis Driving School to manage the procedure for you and guide you through each following step.
Medical PIN and medical certificates
After the authorisation, the PIN code needed for the medical stage is issued and you are notified electronically. With that PIN you have the required examinations by a pathologist (general practitioner) and an ophthalmologist.
Government fees Issuing and paying the fees
The required government fees are issued electronically through e-Paravolo, the state's online fee system. We can issue them for you and send you the RF payment codes.
Training and Examination Card Issuing the D.E.E.
Once the previous stages are complete, the Training and Examination Card (Δελτίο Εκπαίδευσης Εξέτασης — Δ.Ε.Ε.) is issued and the official training can begin.

These amounts are the government fees (κρατικά παράβολα) set by the Greek state for the procedure and the examinations. They are not the total cost of getting your licence: the driving school's fee and the doctors' fees are not included.
Examination fees apply to each scheduled examination. If you need to retake an examination, a new examination fee is required, together with the corresponding driving school fee.
Extension from AM, A1, A2 or A
Already hold a motorcycle licence?
If you already hold an AM, A1, A2 or A licence, this is not a first licence but an extension to category B. The procedure is shorter.
- No new examinations by a pathologist or ophthalmologist are required.
- 18 compulsory driving lessons instead of 25.
- No theory examination — only the practical test.
- The application starts on gov.gr under "Driving Licences" and then "Extension".

Manual or automatic?
Both options lead to full training. The difference is how you are trained and how you take the practical test.

For those who choose to train and take the test in a manual car.

If you take the practical test in an automatic car, code 78 is recorded on your licence, which limits you to vehicles with an automatic transmission. This restriction can be lifted later.
Where the lessons take place
Car driving lessons in Agios Dimitrios and in real Athens traffic
Practical training is adapted to your level and to the aim of each lesson. Depending on the schedule, the lesson can start from our office in Agios Dimitrios or from another agreed point, including near your home where that is possible.
Training routes are not fixed. As you progress, you move gradually from quiet streets to bigger roads, main avenues and more demanding real-traffic conditions.

We work with candidates from across Attica. For car lessons, by arrangement, the lesson can start and finish at Agios Dimitrios, Alimos or Dafni metro stations.
These areas are not fixed routes or a commitment to pick you up. They are examples of where training actually takes place.
Driving lessons in English in southern Athens
If Greek is not your first language, the paperwork is often harder than the driving itself. We explain each step of the Greek procedure in English — what you sign, which fee you pay and what the examiners expect.
Our office is in Agios Dimitrios, and we work with candidates living across the southern suburbs of Athens and the wider Attica region.
The goal is not just to reach the test. The goal is to be able to drive.
After you pass
What happens once you pass the practical test
After a successful practical test, your licence is issued through the same digital system. Until the printed card is ready, a temporary driving licence allows you to drive in Greece — it is not valid abroad.
We follow the file through to the end and let you know as soon as your licence is available.

You can start at 17, with a parent's consent, and accompanied driving applies until you turn 18.
