A2 has no specific engine size limit. What determines whether a motorcycle belongs to the category is mainly its power and its other technical characteristics.
Note: an A2 motorcycle that has been derived from a conversion must not come from a vehicle whose original power was more than double the power permitted for the category.

What can I ride with an A2 licence?
With A2 you can ride motorcycles with a maximum power of 35 kW and a power-to-weight ratio of up to 0.2 kW/kg, provided they also meet the other specifications of the category.
Unlike A1, A2 is not defined by a specific engine size. So if you already have a particular bike in mind, we can check whether it is covered by A2.

Who can obtain A2?

Category A2 can be obtained once you have reached the age of 20, provided the conditions laid down are met.
Already hold AM or A1?
If you already hold a motorcycle category, you do not start again from the beginning: 7 practical lessons and the practical examination follow, with no new theory training and no new theory examination.

Practical training
Practical training for A2
A2 requires the practical training provided for in your case, on the school's own real A2 motorcycles. Training includes the dedicated training area and, depending on the stage, riding in real traffic conditions.

Manual or automatic?
Manual motorcycle
You learn full control of the clutch and the gears. It takes a little more practice at the start, but it leaves every type of motorcycle open to you.
Automatic motorcycle
No clutch and no gear changes — simpler to learn and convenient for everyday city riding on a scooter.
Note on code 78
If you take the practical examination on an automatic motorcycle, that category on your licence carries code 78 and is valid only for vehicles without a clutch. If you take the examination on a motorcycle with a clutch, the category carries no such restriction.
Code 78 is a transmission restriction on that specific category and is not a legal condition for extending from A2 to A. If you want to get used to operating a clutch now, for riding motorcycles with manual transmission later, training with a clutch may be the better choice.

How much does an A2 licence cost?
The cost depends on whether this is a first licence or an extension of an existing one, and on the procedure required in your case.
Government fees are separate from the school's training fee.

The Medical PIN is issued through the digital driving licence procedure and is used by the doctors to register their medical certificates electronically. Once the online application is complete and the PIN has been issued, you can visit a pathologist and an ophthalmologist.
